2) Belief in the Angels: (Malaikah)
The second condition of fifth (al- Iman) is to believe
in the angels, who have been made from light.
The angles are honored creatures, gentle, spiritual beings
that can take any form they wish. They are neither male
nor female nor do they disobey God (Allah s.w.t.) in carrying
out His orders.
The angles worship God alone, obey Him, and act
only by His command. They do not need to eat or drink and
they do not get tired.
Among the angles some are charged with tasks in the heaven,
some with tasks on the earth and some with tasks at the
divine throne (al- arsh). Only God (Allah S.w.t.) knows
the number of angels.
Four high- ranking angels (the archangels) are like the
prophets of the angels. They are: Gabriel (Jibra’il
a.s.) Michael (Mikail a.s.) Raphael (Israfil a.s.) Azrael
(Azrail a.s).
Some responsibilities of the Four Archangels:
1- (Jebra’il a.s.) Gabriel: He was charged
with the responsibility of communicating the revelations
of Holy Scripture of God the Most High to the Prophets (p.b.u.h.).
These angels acted as the intermediary between God the Most
Great and His Prophets by revelation.
2- (Mikail a.s.) Michael: He is charged
with the formation of some natural phenomena such as
the wind, the rain, the snow, and the growth of vegetation.
3-(Israfil a.s.) Raphael: He has been charged
with the task of blowing the trumpet (al- Thur) on Doomsday
(al- Qiyamah) and again for the resurrection of humanity.
4- (Azrail a.s.) Azrael: He is the charged
with the task of taking the souls at the time of death.
Beyond these there exist, for each and every human
being, three hundred eighty four other appointed angels.
Of these, those called al - Kiram’an - Katebeen
and al -Hafadhah are called with recording everyone’s
good and evil deeds.
3)
Belief in God’s Revealed Books:
The third
essential condition of faith (al- Iman) is to believe in
the Holy Scriptures.
God the
Most Great from time to time revealed to creation through
His Prophet (p.b.u.h.) the Holy Books.
Thus, He
could communicate to mankind His wishes, His commands, His
Prohibitions and in general His divine wisdom. These Holy
Scriptures are collectively referred to as the divine
books. The total number of the divine books (al- Kutub)
and smaller collections of pages (al- Suhuf) that were revealed
to the Prophets (p.b.u.h.) by means of Gabriel (p.b.u.)
is one hundred and four.
THE PAGES
(AL- SUHUF)
The total
number of pages (al - Suhuf) which were revealed to
the Prophets (p.b.u.) are one hundred.
••• Ten
pages (10) to Adam (p.b.u.)
••• Fifty
pages (50) to Seth (Shith p.b.u.)
••• Thirty
pages (30) to Enoch (Idris p.b.u.)
••• Ten
pages (10) to Abraham (Ibrahim P.b.u.)
THE
BOOKS (AL- KUTUB)
The Holy Scriptures which were revealed to the Prophets
(p.b.u.h.) are four.
••• The Torah (Taurat) to Moses (Musa p.bu.)
••• The Psalms (Zaboor) to David (Dawood p.b.u.)
••• The Gospel (Injil) to Jesus Christ (Isa p.b.u.)
••• The Noble Qur’an to the last Prophet Muhammad
(p.b.u.h.)
With the revelation of the Glorious Qur’an the obligation
of following the orders of the first three books was canceled.
Muslims believe that God revealed books to His messengers
as proof for mankind and as guidance for them.
Not a single letter of the Glorious Qur’an has been changed
and all copies of the Noble Qur’an in the world are
exactly the same.
The Noble Qur’an protected from change by God the Most
Great. God has guaranteed the Qur’an’s protection from any
corruption or distortion up until the Day of Judgment.
God has said: “Indeed, We have sent down the Qur’an,
and surely We will guard it (from corruption).” (Qur’an,
15.9)
